About Our Linen

Our flax linen is grown in Europe in regions that specialise in flax. Linen by nature is one of the the most sustainable fabrics. The incredible flax plant has many uses such as oil from the flaxseeds or simply using the seeds in your favourite cereal or smoothie. The flax plant requires significantly less water and no chemicals to grow and process. Our linen is also Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified, which is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It also includes a list of process-related criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain. To obtain a certification, our linen needs to comply with social criteria such as working conditions, pay, and stringent health and safety standards throughout the supply chain.

In addition to the GOTS certification our linen is also OEKO-Tex certified meaning that our fabric is tested to make sure no harmful substances are used so you can rest assured you and your baby are in safe hands.

Our Linen is 165-170gsm, linen does not have a thread count, we have tried and tested different gsm weights and firmly believe our 165-170gsm is the ideal weight for bedding.

Our packaging

Here at HartCo, we are conscious of our environmental imprint. For this reason, we package our play mats, cot blankets and King and Queen bedding in their very own linen bag reducing the need for plastic. So from the beginning right through to the 100% compostable, zero-waste packaging that we mail in you can feel confident knowing that we have thought about everything.

Dying our linen

Linen is incredibly hypoallergenic because it's breathable and it does not lock in moisture for bacteria to form. With that in mind we wanted to preserve this wonderful quality so no formaldehyde is used to set our environmental dyes, meaning less toxins for your and your babies body.
